Draft Parish Council Meeting Minutes – Tuesday 11th November 2025

MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 11TH NOVEMBER 2025

Chairman’s opening remarks and Declarations of interest.

1. Apologies for absence
None

2. Minutes of the meeting held on 30th September 2025
RESOLVED that the minutes be signed.

3. Matters arising from the minutes.
• Trees and branches were reported on Abbes Walk causing power lines to go out. Some trees look dead near Squirrel wood. As yet nothing has been sorted in this area.
• Fly Tipping – serious issues with fly tipping have been reported. These are reported regularly on Scorcher Hills Lane & Abbes Walk. Gas cannister dumping is still a problem. Local tips will be closed for a week which could impact the village.
• Flooding/Culverts –Ongoing works to be completed next year.
• The footpath on Grange Lane, from Abbes Walk up to Old Village Street is very narrow due to overgrown hedges and debris on the path also very slippery. Councillor Lawson would investigate this
• Christmas Lunch was advertised in the Church Magazine. Date confirmed Wednesday 10th December 2025 12pm. 28 people have registered to attend. Christmas Crackers to be ordered. Action BG
• Christmas Tree delivery will be after 24th November.
A lighting of the tree event with hymns, mince pies & Mulled wine. To be arranged when the tree has been delivered. Action AW
• Discussions took place with regards to lighting the War memorial area with possible spotlights. This would also help with Christmas tree lights if power was possible in the area.

4. Financial Matters

RESOLVED that the accounts be approved, cheques and bank statement signed.

Budget proposals were discussed. Recent expenses on the playing field and future costs for the Tree maintenance, website & Insurance increases
RESOLVED to increase the precept by 15%

5. Planning
Cardinal Gardens are continuing to build the property that had permission some years ago. Concerns from residents have been raised that this property might be turned into another care home. Ongoing complaints to Doncaster Council and planning plus local resident’s complaints also received.

6. Correspondence
All Circulated.
Business Continuity Plan was discussed
RESOLVED approved with Councillor Welke to keep the documents in a locked safe

British Legion concert at the Burghwallis Pub – Sunday 14th December at 6pm

Councillor vacancy – Councillor Slack is moving away from the village and intends to resign when he has moving dates. Till this time Councillor Slack is happy to continue.

Royal Garden Party nominations – None

Lamppost poppies to be taken down at the weekend. Next year around 40 more poppies to be purchased was discussed. The Union Jack flag would be taken down by the British Legion as this was their flag.

Councillor Grimes reported she had cut back some of the bushes at the War memorial and is planting other flowers.
