One of the strengths of having our Neighbourhood Plan is to influence development that is in keeping with the overall appearance of the village. The developments being limited to ‘infill’ in existing land rather than green field.
One planning application was to build the last house on Cardinal Gardens along Scorcher Hills Lane. The proposal also sought to utilise this building as another care home. This proposal was rejected by the planning team at DMBC as it would develop an adverse cluster in addition to the other two houses used similarly in Cardinal Gardens.
The planning department have now instructed the owners of the plot to either complete the house as a dwelling – it currently stands as the foundations and two courses of brickwork – or demolish the structure and return to to level ground.
The Abbe’s Walk
The original house called “The Sycamores” along The Abbe’s Walk is to be converted into two semi detached houses. The other new houses in the original grounds, which are almost finished, are to be joined by one further six bedroom executive house.
