MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 8^TH JULY 2025

1. Apologies for absence

• Minutes of the meeting held on 13^th May 2025

RESOLVED that the minutes be signed. 

• Matters arising from the minutes.
• Repairs to the notice board have been completed.
• Trees and branches were reported on Abbes Walk causing power lines to go out.  Some trees look dead near Squirrel wood.  The land is unregistered.
• The Community Engagement Meeting held recently was discussed.  Next meeting 28^th July at Scawthorpe Library & 29^th September at Sprotbrough.
• Fly Tipping – serious issues with fly tipping have been reported.  These are reported regularly on Scorcher Hills Lane & Abbes Walk and cleared away promptly.
• Flooding/Culverts – on going
• The new Burghwallis Facebook page is a success informing residents of issues in the village. 
• Flower planters in the village will be maintained by volunteers in the village.
• Grass verges were discussed as these are cut by CDC once a year.

• Financial Matters

RESOLVED that the accounts be approved, cheques and bank statement signed.

• Planning

2 fields on Crabgate Lane currently have planning applications for 160 & 200 new homes.  These have been objected to by the Parish Council.  Decisions are expected in July/August.

Cardinal Gardens have started works on the building plot that hasn’t been completed for several years.  This will be a 6-bedroom home.  Any plans for change of use to another Care home will be objected to.

The footpath on Grange Lane, from Abbes Walk up to Old Village Street is very narrow due to overgrown hedges and debris on the path.                            Action: JH

Church Magazine will be every 2 months moving forward.  Advertising for the Christmas lunches will need to be published in time. 

Advertising on the new Facebook page too.
