Parish Council Meeting Minutes – Tuesday 30th September 2025

MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 30TH SEPTEMBER 2025

Chairman’s opening remarks and Declarations of interest.

1. Apologies for absence
None

2. Minutes of the meeting held on 19th August 2025
RESOLVED that the minutes be signed.

3. Matters arising from the minutes.
• Trees and branches were reported on Abbes Walk causing power lines to go out. Some trees look dead near Squirrel wood. As yet nothing has been sorted in this area.
• The Community Engagement Meeting held recently was discussed. Nothing to report.
• Fly Tipping – serious issues with fly tipping have been reported. These are reported regularly on Scorcher Hills Lane & Abbes Walk. Gas cannister dumping is still a problem.
• Flooding/Culverts –Councillor Slack reported on a recent site visit with Doncaster council. Works will start as soon as reports on works needed are done.
• The footpath on Grange Lane, from Abbes Walk up to Old Village Street is very narrow due to overgrown hedges and debris on the path.
Councill Welke to check and report back if this has been sorted Action: AW
• Christmas Lunch was advertised in the Church Magazine. Date confirmed Wednesday 10th December 2025 12pm. Anyone wanting to attend to contact Councillor Grimes. £16.90 was agreed with Burghwallis Pub per person. Over 60’s are free anyone else attending will pay full price. Raffle prizes were currently being collected.
• Remembrance Day was also advertised in the church magazine for Sunday 9th November. Poppies for the village will be delivered nearer the time. A wreath was also organised by the British Legion.
These dates will be advertised on the new Facebook page & Website

• Christmas Tree has been ordered, and delivery will be after 24th November.
Christmas Tree lights were still a problem, as the solar lights are inadequate, but no other alternative is available. A lighting of the tree event with hymns and mince pies would be discussed later.
• The vehicle previously reported driving slowly through the village numerous times a day. This odd behaviour is continuing.
• The Woods area on Scorcher Hills Lane was reported previously. A grey car is parked all day every day. Numerous bikes in and out of the woods is still on going. This has all been reported again to the Police. Requested an evening presence in the village from the Police.

RESOLVED that the accounts be approved, cheques and bank statement signed.
Budget proposals were discussed for the next meeting

All Circulated.
YLCA Assertation 10 was discussed with regards to the new legislation on IT.
RESOLVED to accept the new policy
Business Continuity Plan was discussed
RESOLVED to circulate and bring to the next meeting for approval.

Up to date.

8. Next Meeting
The next meeting to be held at The Burghwallis Public House commencing at 7pm.
