Parish Council Minutes – Tuesday 10th October 2023

MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY 10th October 2023

Tess Goddard from CDC introduced herself and what her role is within CDC.  A discussion took place with regards to concerns in the village and how they can help.  Contacting CDC to report incidents/fly tipping and any other issues helps them identify hotspots and they can investigate along with the police.

This information will be circulated in the village to inform people to report issues as soon as possible.  CDC would also send out some leaflets to help with who to contact.

Various leaflets were also left by CDC & Police to circulate.

A Police presence in the village on occasion was requested.

Various meetings and CDC information to be shared with the PC more regularly as not all information was getting through to Burghwallis.

Dogs in the playing field problem was discussed.  CDC would try and visit on occasion to try to help stop this from happening.  All signs were on display, but no notice is being taken.

RESOLVED that the minutes be signed. 

  • Matters arising from the minutes.
  • Abbes Walk – Repairs have been completed to the road.
  • Senior Citizens Christmas Lunch – Prices are the same as last year £24.95pp and 6th December confirmed 12.30pm start.  Councillor Chris McIlroy would organise a list of attendees following advertising in the church magazine.  Raffle prices would be collected, and Table decorations purchased.
  • Christmas Tree – Councillor Brenda Grimes has ordered the Tree and would be notified when ready for delivery.

RESOLVED that the accounts payable be approved and the cheques and bank statement signed.

Budget for 2024/25 at the next meeting

All circulated and dealt with accordingly.

D Day 80 – 6th June 2024.  This would be a British Legion organised event rather than Parish Council.  Beacons may be lit around the country.

Councillor Brenda Grimes has ordered 120 Free Sapling trees from Woodland Trust to be delivered in March.

The next meeting to be held at The Burghwallis Public House commencing at 7pm.
